A huge love heart with the words THANK YOU is shining for all to see on AGL Loy Yang’s cooling towers this week. The message is directed at all essential workers on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Below the heart are symbols acknowledging essential workers in the health, energy and supermarket/grocery sectors, of which there are many thousands in the Latrobe Valley. All have worked tirelessly and in difficult circumstances during the COVID-19 emergency, putting the public first.
Of his own industry, AGL Loy Yang General Manager Nigel Browne said he was extremely proud of all employees who, during a time of stress and uncertainty, worked hard to “keep the lights on”.*
“Our employees have contributed in so many ways to ensure we remain a safe and stable source of energy generation at a time when it has been so critical,” Mr Browne said.
The cooling tower display can bee seen between sunset and midnight each night until this Sunday.
*Gippsland Goodness also acknowledges the same efforts to “keep the lights on” by staff at Yallourn (Energy Australia) and Loy Yang B (Alinta). Under difficult circumstances, workers right across the local energy sector have continued to provide the power needed by the whole state. And as for our amazing, dedicated health workers, where do we begin…?
