A great sense of enjoyment and fulfillment can come from helping an organisation that means something to you.
The Gippsland Art Gallery and Central Gippsland Visitor Centre at the Port of Sale are in need of volunteers, providing a great opportunity for passionate locals to contribute to the community. An influx of visitors is expected during the Archibald Prize exhibition in October and November and they are recruiting new volunteers, with long- and short-term positions available.
Anyone interested in joining the Port of Sale’s vibrant volunteer program is invited to attend a New Volunteer Information Session this Wednesday (16 June) at 2.00pm. It will be held at the Port of Sale, 70 Foster Street, and will be followed by afternoon tea.
This is an opportunity to hear from staff, meet other volunteers and learn about volunteer roles including:
• Gallery Attendant (greeting visitors, circulating through galleries, and gallery security)
• Guiding (leading tours of visiting school groups or other community groups)
• Visitor Centre (greeting visitors, giving directions and advising of local attractions)
Gallery and Visitor Centre staff will speak about what’s involved in becoming a volunteer, like the induction process, and ‘Working With Children’ and Police checks.
There is no obligation to become a volunteer after attending the session. Just sit and listen if you like, and learn about ways you can help if anything piques your interest.
To RSVP or get more information, go to www.gippslandartgallery.com/events or call the Gallery on 5142 3500.
